EDGE-POWER - EDGEWOUND
POWER RESISTORS 400 WATTS TO 1600 WATTS
Edge-power resistors complement Milwaukee Resistor
Corporation's other products featured in this section offering the
customer a continuous range of ohmic values and resistor types for
high current applications. Edge-power resistance ranges fall naturally
between our ribwound and grid resistors. The Edge-power resistor
has been an industry workhorse of electric power dissipation for
many years. Frames and enclosures are readily available for mounting
multiple Edge-power resistors or combinations of resistors.
Benefits/Features
Features of Milwaukee Resistor Corporation Edge-power resistors
include:
- Resistance-alloy ribbon wire is
coiled on edge and supported on specially designed porcelain
insulators.
- Open coil construction allows efficient
heat dissipation and easily accommodates reasonable overloads
and surges.
- Insulators provide proper turn-to-turn
spacing and insulation from support bars.
- Terminals are welded to the resistive
wire for a reliable electrical connection.
- End-slot/side-slot support bar
design provides versatility in mounting for easy adoption into
many existing installations.
- Design provides a high capacity
resistor with an excellent weight/wattage ratio.
- Terminal hardware for cable attachment
provided as a standard item.
- Movable tap terminals are available
as an option.
- Special brackets and supports bars
can be made to provide direct replacements for other manufacturer's
resistors.
- Taps and jumpers available to meet
your circuit specifications (series, parallel, or combination).
Applications
Typical applications for Edge-power resistors in motor/motion control
include areas such as dynamic braking, motor starting, speed/torque
control, and plugging. Other applications include load dumping,
current limiting, and voltage dropping. Edge-power resistors are
commonly found in:
- Overhead Cranes
- Locomotives
- Lift Trucks
- Elevators
- Machine Tools
- Conveyors
|
- Battery Lines/Chargers
- Plating Baths
- Power Supplies
- Industrial Controls
- Arc and Spot Welders
