OVAL RESISTORS - FIXED
AND ADJUSTABLE 30 WATTS TO 95 WATTS
Milwaukee Resistor Corporation Oval resistors are
used where space saving is desired and where the use of the heat
sink function of the metal chassis, rack, or panel is employed.
The low profile design and ability to stack multiple resistors
conserves space.
Benefits/Features
Features of the Milwaukee Resistor Corporation Oval resistor include:
- Terminal bands are spotwelded
onto the insulated core and resistance-alloy wire is precisely
wound onto the oval core.
- The wire is spotwelded to the
terminal bands and then "locked" onto the core with a silicone
or cement coating.
- Rugged construction for vibration
and shock resistance.
- Even heat dissipation to the
chassis through the standard aluminum mounting.
- Adjustable ovals are available.
- Standard lug terminals along
with single quick connects are available.
- Special terminals are available
for unusual applications.
- Wattage ratings are based on
a temperature rise of 300°C. above an ambient of 40°C.
mounted on a 10" x 10" x .040" steel panel. (Ovals are derated
by 20% when mounted on a non-heat conductive surface and are
derated when stacked to avoid excessively high temperatures-see
chart).
- Standard resistance tolerance
is ±5%. Below 1 ohm and adjustable is ±10%.
Applications
Typical applications for oval resistors include anywhere space
is limited such as power supplies, motor controls including areas
such as dynamic braking, motor starting, and speed/torque control,
and process controls.
